History of Alpha Kappa Chapter
In the fall of 1997, four diverse Individuals came together to establish the "burning sands of passage". They were Rattled and Shaken when facing the Burning Sands. These men held together when things seemed at their worst, conquering what was laid in front of them. The four Conquistadors stood strong and hard. Lambda Theta Phi was the first Latin based Fraternity to establish it self in South Florida at Florida International University.
In the fall of 1999, two unique men came together to form Alpha Kappa Chapter's Beta Line. This line re-established the chapter which had fallen dormant since its birth. These two men brought the chapter back to its feet and rekindled the torch for future brothers to carry.
Alpha Kappa Chapter served as a metro chapter between Florida International University and the University of Miami, until the spring of 2002 when the University of Miami became their own chapter now known as Beta Theta Chapter "The Liquid Swords of the Hurricane".
Alpha Kappa Chapter has grown in Brothers, but we never forget our history while continuing to march into the future. Remembering all of those who have crossed the Burning Sands of Passage. We are staying true to our mission of Lambda Theta Phi, serving as a source of support for both students and professionals in pursuit of an education or career while promoting Latino unity.
