New Jersey Sector 1 History

Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity, Inc. was founded on December 1, 1975 at Kean University in Union, New Jersey.

Since its inception, Lambda Theta Phi has established chapters throughout New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Arizona and the Midwest. It is for this reason that Lambda Theta Phi was accepted into The National Inter- Fraternal Council as the First and to this day ONLY TRUE NATIONAL LATIN FRATERNITY.

Lambda Theta Phi Chapters NATIONALLY are broken down into sectors based on their geographic proximity. In the eighties, all the chapters were part of Sector 1. It should be noted that at that time, the chapters were only in New Jersey.

Due to a combination of distance and expansion in the 1990's, this has changed. As recently as the mid- nineties, New Jersey was divided into 3 Sectors. Sector 1 was the governing body of the 11 different chapters that were immediately west of New York City: Alpha, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Kappa, Nu, Xi, Sigma, Alpha Epsilon and Alpha Pi Chapters.

The Northern New Jersey Chapters were all a part of Sector 1 until January 1999. In 1999, Sector 1 was broken up in 2 parts. Some of the schools became part of Sector 4, and the rest are the current Sector 1 Chapters. Also Sector 2 are the chapters mostly in southern New Jersey and PA, DE, MD chapters.
